Victims Against Bullying
There have been many decades where bullying has been an issues
where bullying has been shown in the media. Bullying causes many problems to
children and adolescents that will later affect them in life or in the
moment.
To Begin with, there has been many studies that have been done such as the 37
studies in Yale. The University of Yale has done studies that have shown that
victims that have been bullied have had suicidal thoughts. Children have been
reported to having suicidal thoughts because of being bullied by other
classmates. Being bullied in the adolescent years can cause a lot of damage to
the mental state in teenager’s minds, which can transfer to being physical such
as self-harming. During the teenage years this can be a very fragile time due to
them are at the time of finding who they are or who they want to be.
Following, there have been many studies that have also shown why a bully does
what he or she does. Bullies usually bully other kids due to them either having
a problem at home or they don’t get along with other children. Bullies usually
feel alone so they have to pick on others to actually feel like they’re an
existing person. Bullying is just one step on the road of crime, most criminals
as kids were usually bullies or kids that had a life changing experience. Most
kids that were bullies when they grow up they become more on the wild side of
the law, meaning they will usually end up as criminals. Parents that usually
ignore their kids, their kids will end up seeking attention any way they can
such as getting in trouble in school with other kids by making other kids lives
a living hell.
Next, there are many effects to victims that were bullied. There are many
effects to victims that were being bullied one of the most common effects were
suicidal thoughts and self-harming. One of the other common effects were kids
avoiding school and absence percentage being higher due to many children missing
school because they don’t want to be bullied. School absences have been on the
rise for a couple of years now due to bullying getting worse. Teenagers have a
higher mentality for self-harming and suicidal thoughts due to them being in the
so called "best years". Earlier in victims lives if they are being bullied as
children the most effects that will happen is children being depressed and
avoiding school. Bullying can happen to anyone even adults. There was one case
that a lawyer from a law firm got bullied by a coworker and he committed
suicide. No one is safe even in the field of justice, but even in that field of
work everything is competitive.
Following through, now there are laws against bullying it varies on age and
the extent of the bullying. For example, to the lawyer that committed suicide
due to being bullied by another lawyer, there is now a law where if there was
some type of bullying happening to a person in office they will removed from
office immediately or worse. I believe that facing the families and the person
that you have been bullying is right there in front of you is worse than the
laws. Still the laws are there to protect one rights and to self-defend without
yourself breaking any laws that will make you end up in jail.
Now not has bullying is done at school but at home too thanks to the
internet. Bullying has made an evolution such as Cyberbullying where it has to
do on the internet with emails, social networking such as Facebook, Myspace, and
Twitter. Cyberbullying has become a problem now in this age because now
everything is computerized and parents usually don’t pay attention to their
children being on the computer and who they are writing to. Some parents even
let their children have a Facebook so they can talk to their friends. But by
letting parents do that they give access to letting their kids be more exposed
to them getting bullied or them bullying another kid. Teenagers have the most
access to this because those being in middle and high school they need internet
access for their school work. Teenagers usually take advantage of social
networking sites such as facebook and twitter for their gossip or bullying other
kids where everyone can see it rather than in person and only a few know about
it.
In Today World, some parents brush off bullying on their child. Most parents
think that bullying is a growing experience in children lives without realizing
the effects of what their kids are going through. There been cases where parents
ignore the abuse that their child is going through at school and they don’t
realize it until it’s too late, such as self-harming or in extreme cases
suicide. Some kids that smile, sometimes hide the pain that they are feeling
that even though they don’t give themselves physical scars they have scars
mentally carved in their mind due to the experiences that they’ve had.
Schools are now trying to research and find out how many kids are being
bullied and having programs. There are programs for kids that have or being
bullied as of this moment such as the B.R.A.V.E society. This society was
founded in California due to mother that has lost her kid to being bullied to
the point of suicide. This society has information about how to prevent and how
to notice if your child is being bullied. They believe that kids shouldn’t be
bullied by others because life is too short for them to be depressed and
self-harming. They also believe that parents should be a part of their kids life
and school making sure that they’re child is not being bullied at all. The
Founder was a mother before her son passed away because her son was being
bullied to the point where the son committed suicide at such a young age.
There have been so many studies that have been done on bullying where one of
the studies included by giving a school a questionnaire to the students to find
out how many of them were getting bullied. There have been many studies that
included bullying and most of the studies have been only asking children if they
have been bullied or watched from afar. For example, bullying have been around
for centuries but it has been recently been increasing from the past 10 years
due to it evolving into cyberbullying.
In the end, there have been many effects of bullying but one of the worst
effects is suicide. No parents like to bury their own child before them its not
right. Teenagers look to suicide because they think there is no other out to
bullying. Kids and adolescents don’t tell an adult that they’re being bullied
due to the fear of judgment and their parents thinking that they’re weak.
Children worst fear is judgment from their parents because no child likes to
think or see a parents reaction because if they tell the teacher or the school
they fear that the bullying will only get worst by telling an adult so they stay
quiet about it and they take the abuse more. But there is many ways to prevent
bullying if a parent is involved with their child life more if they just take
part in their kids life.
Bullying is another way of harassment and how do you stop a person harassing
you, you can go to court about a child being abused by another child if all
fails with the school system, because now there are laws that protect one rights
and self being from bullying. The justice system has these laws for a reason
because there have been many cases of kids being bullied to the point of the
victims self-harming or worst suicide. For one case Amanda Todd who has been
bullied by being called a whore over facebook and in school, there have been
many rumors about her. The only way she dealt with it was she committed suicide
by drinking bleach. Imagine how her parents must have felt when they saw all the
abuse the other kids were giving her and imagine how they must have felt knowing
that they’re daughter is gone. Personally I don’t think I would be able to
handle that knowing that my child is gone before me when its supposed to be the
other way around.
